CPI(M) will build 1,000 houses for poor: Kodiyeri

Kannur

Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] State secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has said that the party will build 1,000 more houses in the State in a year for poor people. He was speaking at a public meeting after handing over the key of one of the 23 houses built in connection with the 23rd Party Congress to Srilakshmi at Payambalam, here on Monday.  Mr. Balakrishnan said that it was decided at the 2018 Thrissur State Conference that local committee should build houses. Accordingly, 1,200 houses had been constructed across the State. The CPI(M) leader said less than 1% of the people in the State were still extremely poor. Their uplift was the first priority of the LDF government. Party workers should also be active participants in this.  He said nothing was impossible if the CPI(M) took the initiative. This was proved during teh COVID-19 pandemic and floods.  CPI(M) district secretary M.V. Jayarajan presided over the function.
