CPI(M) State secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan on Sunday said the party was against increasing the pension age of State employees. The number of Kerala PSC rank holders awaiting appointments was high. The party had discussed the matter and resolved to shelve the proposal.
Speaking to reporters after a two-day conclave of the CPI(M) State committee here, Mr. Balakrishnan said CPI’s criticism of the government’s handling of the crisis caused by the Governor’s hesitancy on the eve of the Assembly’s Budget session to approve the policy address for the next fiscal did not mean the “close Communist ally was in the Opposition.”
The CPI was entitled to its opinion. However, there were no irreconcilable differences between the two parties.
The State committee approved the party's draft political programme finalised by the State secretariat.
The party State conference in Kochi to be held from March 1 to March 4 would take the final call on the agenda. It would also decide the next party secretary.
CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury will inaugurate the delegates conference by hoisting the flag at the Marine Drive venue at 10 a.m. on March 1. Polit Bureau members Prakash Karat, Vrinda Karat, S. Ramachandran Pillai, M. A. Baby, Pinarayi Vijayan and Ramakrishnan, would speak.
Seminars and political discussions will mark the conference. At 4 p.m., the State conference would conclude with a public rally.
