Grimsby seafood firm Kirwin Brothers Ltd enjoyed a “strong post-Covid rebound in demand” as sales increased by more than £6 million.
Turnover was up 38 per cent to £22.2 million in the year to July last year, with pre-tax profits up at a similar level for the wholesale fish merchants. It was the first full year without lockdown restrictions for the business, which had previously returned to profit following a wipe-out of an entire quarter of trading in the period before.
The latest figures bring it close to the pre-pandemic trading levels of 2019, when it hit £22.8 million - from a low of £15.3 million when then the UK public were ordered to stay at home.
