Health bosses across Nottinghamshire have sent a message concerning coronavirus and how it will be "likely" more waves will hit as immunity and new variants emerge. It comes as several areas across the county still have higher rates than the England average.
In the week ending April 16 it is estimated that 6.6% of the population would have tested positive for Covid-19 across the East Midlands. In Nottinghamshire 12 neighbourhoods have reported Covid infection rates higher than the national average, which sits at 271.6 cases per 100,000 people.
The latest R-rate (reproduction rate) for the England and NHS Midlands region are, however, the same. Both have a rate between 0.9 to 1.1. Any number above one means the virus is spreading and cases are growing.
