Covid Ireland update sees over 26,000 new cases as Department of Health make major change

The Department of Health announced that there were 17,779 new cases of Covid this weekend.

They have made a huge change as they plan to report Covid-19 case numbers from Monday to Friday only.

From now on, reporting of cases on Monday will include weekend figures.

Daily Hospital and ICU information will continue to be updated on the Covid-19 Data Hub as usual on Saturdays and Sundays.

Today, the Department were notified of 3,872 PCR-confirmed cases of Covid and 4,759 people registered a positive antigen test through the HSE portal.

On Saturday 29 January, The HPSC was notified of 5,091 PCR-confirmed cases of COVID-19. 4,057 people registered a positive antigen test through the HSE portal the previous day.

On Sunday 30 January, The HPSC was notified of 4,400 PCR-confirmed cases of COVID-19. 3,893 people registered a positive antigen test through the HSE portal the previous day.

As of 8am today, 692 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 75 are in ICU.
