Covid Ireland: Over 28,000 new cases as Department of Health give weekend update

The Department of Health announced that there were 28,000 new cases of Covid this weekend.

Last week, the department made the decision to report Covid-19 case numbers from Monday to Friday only.

From now on, reporting of cases on Monday will include weekend figures.

Daily Hospital and ICU information will continue to be updated on the Covid-19 Data Hub as usual on Saturdays and Sundays.

Today, the Department were notified of 28,166 positive Covid cases from over the past three days.

Today, there has been 3,975 PCR-confirmed cases of COVID-19. 4,478 people registered a positive antigen test through the HSE portal.

On Saturday 5 February, the HPSC was notified of 6,260 PCR-confirmed cases of COVID-19. 4,717 people registered a positive antigen test through the HSE portal the previous day.

On Sunday 6 February, the HPSC was notified of 4,933 PCR-confirmed cases of COVID-19. 3,803 people registered a positive antigen test through the HSE portal the previous day.

As of 8am today, 643 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised, of whom 76 are in ICU.
