Covid infections in the Liverpool City Region have fallen by a quarter.
According to the latest data from Public Health England, the Liverpool City Region recorded 2,885 cases in the week ending April 24. That's 1,058 fewer cases than in the previous seven days.
It meant that the week-on-week percentage change figure in the city region fell by 27%. All six areas of the city region saw decreases in the week-on-week percentage change figures.

They were: 34% in Knowsley; 25% in Liverpool; 34% in Halton; 28% in St Helens; 24% in Sefton; and, 25% in Wirral. Warrington, Cheshire West and Chester, and West Lancs, all recorded decreases in positive tests in the week ending April 24.
In England, the week-on-week percentage change figure decreased by 31%. Read on for more details about your local government area.
Liverpool
Liverpool's positive tests came to 810 cases in the week ending April 24, which is 275 fewer cases than the previous week. This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure dropped by 25%. The latest infection rate was 161.8 cases per 100,000 people.
Wirral
Wirral's positive tests came to 652 cases in the week ending April 24, which is 214 fewer cases than in the previous seven days. This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure dropped by 25%. The latest infection rate was 201.0 cases per 100,000 people.
Halton
There were 227 positive tests over the last week - that's 117 fewer cases than in the previous week. This means the week-on-week percentage change figure dropped by 34% in Halton in the week ending April 24. The latest infection rate is 174.9 cases per 100,000 people.
St Helens
There was a total of 330 cases in the week ending April 24, which is 129 fewer cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate in St Helens is 182.2 cases per 100,000 people and the week-on-week percentage change figure dropped by 28%.
Knowsley
There was a total of 257 cases in the week ending April 24, which is 130 fewer cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate in Knowsley is 168.6 cases per 100,000 people and the week-on-week percentage change figure dropped by 34%.
Sefton
Sefton had a total of 609 cases in the week ending April 24, which is a 193 fewer cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate is 220.7 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases dropped by 24% week on week.
Liverpool City Region
There were 2,885 positive tests over in the week ending April 24, which is 1,058 fewer cases than in the previous week. This means the week-on-week percentage change dropped by 27%. The latest infection rate is 169.43 cases per 100,000 people.
Warrington
There were 435 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending April 24, which is 171 fewer cases than the previous week. The week-on-week percentage figure dropped by 28%. There was an infection rate of 207.74 per 100,000 people.
Cheshire West and Chester
There were 803 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending April 24, which is 343 fewer cases than the previous week. The latest infection rate is 233.55 cases per 100,000 people, and the week-on-week percentage dropped by 30% in cases.
West Lancs
There were 226 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending April 24, which is 98 fewer cases than the previous week. The latest infection rate in West Lancs is 197.39 cases per 100,000 people, and the week-on-week percentage dropped by 30% in cases.
England
In the week ending April 24, England recorded 107,088 coronavirus cases, which is 47,077 fewer cases than in the previous seven days. The week-on-week percentage dropped by 31% in England. There was an infection rate of 189.37 per 100,000 people.
