The Liverpool City Region has seen weekly positive Covid tests fall by at least 40%.
According to the latest data from Public Health England, there were 6,136 cases in the week ending April 9, which is 4,201 fewer cases than in the previous seven days. This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure fell by 41% in the Liverpool City Region.

There were continued drops in Warrington, West Lancs, and in Cheshire West and Chester.
In England overall, there was a drop of 38% in the week ending April 9.
Liverpool
Liverpool's positive tests came to 1,649 cases in the week ending April 9, which is 1,306 fewer cases than the previous week. This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure dropped by 44%. The latest infection rate was 329.5 cases per 100,000 people.
Wirral
Wirral's positive tests came to 1,439 cases in the week ending April 9, which is 977 fewer cases than in the previous seven days. This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure fell by 40%. The latest infection rate was 443.7 cases per 100,000 people.
Halton
There were 537 positive tests over the last week - that's 459 fewer cases than in the previous week. This means the week-on-week percentage change figure fell by 46% in Halton in the week ending April 9. The latest infection rate is 413.8 cases per 100,000 people.
St Helens
There was a total of 746 cases in the week ending April 9, which is 449 fewer cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate in St Helens is 411.9 cases per 100,000 people and the week-on-week percentage change figure fell by 38%.
Knowsley
There was a total of 575 cases in the week ending April 9, which is 398 fewer cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate in Knowsley is 377.2 cases per 100,000 people and the week-on-week percentage change figure went down by 41%.
Sefton
Sefton had a total of 1,190 cases in the week ending April 9, which is a 612 fewer cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate is 431.3 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases dropped by 34% week on week.
Liverpool City Region

There were 1,654 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending April 9, which is 1,113 fewer cases than the previous week. The latest infection rate is 481.06 cases per 100,000 people, and the week-on-week percentage dropped by 40% in cases.
West Lancs
There were 415 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending April 9, which is 287 fewer cases than the previous week. The latest infection rate in West Lancs is 362.46 cases per 100,000 people, and the week-on-week percentage dropped by 41% in cases.
England
In the week ending April 9, England recorded 237,892 coronavirus cases, which is 146,260 fewer cases than in the previous seven days. There was a week-on-week percentage fall of 38% in cases in England, and there was an infection rate of 420.67 per 100,000 people.
