Covid infections are still rising across Merseyside

Positive Covid tests are still on the rise across Merseyside.

According to the latest data from Public Health England, in the week ending July 9, the Liverpool City Region saw a week-on-week percentage change figure rise of 15%.

In each seperate area of the LCR, the week-on-week infection increases were: 16% in Liverpool; 11% in Knowsley; 14% in Halton; 17% in St Helens; 9% in Sefton; and, 13% in Wirral.

There were also increases in Warrington, Cheshire West and Chester and Warrington.

In England overall, there was an increase of 20% in the week ending July 9.

Liverpool

Liverpool's positive tests came to 1,472 cases in the week ending July 9, which is 197 more cases than the previous week. This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure rose by 16%. The latest infection rate was 294.1 cases per 100,000 people.

Wirral

Wirral's positive tests came to 1,148 cases in the week ending July 9, which is 136 more cases than in the previous seven days. This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure rose by 13%. The latest infection rate was 354.0 cases per 100,000 people.

Halton

There were 478 positive tests over the last week - that's 60 more cases than in the previous week. This means the week-on-week percentage change figure rose by 14% in Halton in the week ending July 9. The latest infection rate is 368.4 cases per 100,000 people.

St Helens

There was a total of 632 cases in the week ending July 9, which is 91 more cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate in St Helens is 349.0 cases per 100,000 people and the week-on-week percentage change figure rose by 17%.

Knowsley

There was a total of 473 cases in the week ending July 9, which is 48 more cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate in Knowsley is 310.3 cases per 100,000 people and the week-on-week percentage change figure rose by 11%.

Sefton

Sefton had a total of 892 cases in the week ending July 9, which is a 70 more cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate is 323.3 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases rose by 9% week on week.

Liverpool City Region

There were 5,095 positive tests over in the week ending July 9, which is 602 more cases than in the previous week. This means the week-on-week percentage change rose by 13%. The latest infection rate is 299.22 cases per 100,000 people.

Warrington

There were 723 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending July 9, which is 120 more cases than the previous week. The week-on-week percentage figure rose by 20%. There was an infection rate of 345.28 per 100,000 people.

Cheshire West & Chester

ere were 1,190 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending July 9, which is 145 more cases than the previous week. The week-on-week percentage figure rose by 14%. There was an infection rate of 346.11 per 100,000 people.

West Lancs

There were 329 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending July 9, which is 61 more cases than the previous week. The latest infection rate in West Lancs is 287.35 cases per 100,000 people, and the week-on-week percentage rose by 23% in cases.

England

In the week ending July 9, England recorded 174,295 coronavirus cases, which is 28,780 more cases than in the previous seven days. The week-on-week percentage rose by 20% in England. There was an infection rate of 308.21 per 100,000 people
