Coronavirus infection rates have fallen in all ten boroughs of Greater Manchester, but two areas still have infection rates above the national average.
The latest figures show Trafford has the highest coronavirus infection rate in Greater Manchester, after Stockport's rates dropped off at a sharper rate. Trafford recorded a rate of 298.4 cases per 100,000 people in the week ending April 16, according to the latest data from the UK Health Security Agency.
Stockport was close behind with 295.0 infections per 100,000 people, marginally avoce the national average of 287.5. The lowest infection rate in the region is in Oldham, where the rate is 180.5 cases per 100,000 people.

Greater Manchester as a whole has seen infections fall in the most recent figures, with a rate of 226.6 cases, down from 232.5 for the week ending April 15. A total of 6,427 people tested positive for coronavirus across the region in the most recent figures, down by 2467 cases compared to the previous week, a drop of 28 per cent.
Hospital admissions
In the week ending on April 10, a total of 715 patients were admitted to Greater Manchester NHS hospitals with Covid-19. That is 86 fewer than the week before, a fall of 14 per cent.
On Tuesday April 12, there were 16 Mechanical Ventilation (MV) beds occupied by Covid patients in Greater Manchester NHS hospitals. That is two more than a week earlier.
Deaths
In the week ending April 16, a total of 58 people died within 28 days of a positive Covid test across Greater Manchester, which is 7 more than the week before. Since the start of the pandemic, there have been a total of 981,103 confirmed coronavirus cases in Greater Manchester. There has been a total of 9,116 deaths.
Cases reported in each of the ten boroughs
Bolton
In Bolton, the number of cases is down by 28 per cent compared to the previous week - leaving the infection rate at 191.5 cases per 100,000 population. There were 552 positive Covid-19 tests in Bolton in the week ending April 16, which was 219 fewer than the previous 7 days.
Stockport
There were 868 positive tests over the last week in Stockport, which is 267 fewer than in the previous week. The week-on-week trend in Stockport is down by 24 per cent and the latest infection rate is 295.0 cases per 100,000 people.
Trafford
In Trafford, there were 709 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending April 16, which is 252 fewer than the previous 7 days. Trafford has the highest infection rate in the region. The infection rate in Trafford is down slightly compared with the previous day and the week-on-week trend is down by 26 per cent.
Bury
Bury recorded 445 coronavirus cases, which is 219 fewer than in the previous seven days. The latest infection rate in Bury is 233.3 cases per 100,000 people and that is down 33 per cent week-on-week.
Salford
The trend is down in Salford, where there were 591 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending April 16, which is 252 fewer than the previous 7 days. That is down by 30 per cent compared to the previous week. The latest infection rate in Salford is 225.0 cases per 100,000 people, which is lower than the national average.
Manchester
There was a fall of 22 per cent in cases in Manchester over the week ending April 16, and the infection rate is now 197.0 cases per 100,000 population. Manchester recorded 1095 positive Covid-19 tests over the seven-day period, and that is 314 fewer than the previous week.
Wigan
In Wigan, the latest infection rate is 250.1 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases has gone down by 27 per cent. A total of 827 people tested positive for Covid in Wigan over the seven days ending on April 16, which is 301 fewer than the week before.
Rochdale
Rochdale is an area where the trend is down. The latest infection rate here is 185.6 cases per 100,000 people. There were 415 cases recorded in Rochdale, which is 246 fewer than the previous week - a fall of 37 per cent.
Oldham
Oldham, which has the lowest infection rate in the region, recorded 429 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending April 16, which is 182 fewer than the previous 7 days. The coronavirus infection rate in Oldham is now 180.5 cases per 100,000 people and is down by 30 per cent week-on-week.
Tameside
Tameside saw a total of 496 cases in the week ending April 16, which is 215 fewer than the previous week. That is a fall of 30 per cent. In Tameside, the most recent coronavirus infection rate is now 218.4 cases per 100,000 people.
