Newcastle MP Sharon Claydon is the latest Hunter federal election candidate to test positive for COVID-19.
Ms Claydon returned a positive PCR test on Monday night and is in isolation for at least the first seven days of the campaign.
Labor Hunter candidate Dan Repacholi, the Nationals' James Thomson, Nationals senate nominee Ross Cadell, Paterson MP Meryl Swanson and Shortland MP Pat Conroy have all tested positive this year.
