Covid cases by area in Scotland as number of infections soars across the country

Every local authority area across Scotland is recording case numbers greater than 800 per 100,000 population, according to Public Health Scotland (PHS).

Between March 8 and 14, there were a total of 88,622 cases of Covid recorded in the country.

The average number of cases per 100,000 of Scotland population was 1,621.3 during the same seven days.

Dundee City yet again has the lowest rate of Covid infection in Scotland, with a seven day positive rate 1,122.2 per 100,000 population

On the other end of the scale, Na h-Eileanan Siar currently has the most cases with 2,834 per 100,000 people.

Last week, the highest Covid infection rate was in the Orkney Islands - with a seven-day positive rate of 2,321.4 per 100,000 population.

The area has since dropped all the way down to 27th out of 32 regions across Scotland.

Here is the seven day positivity rate in each area of Scotland between 8 March and 14 March 2022, according to PHS

  1. Na h-Eileanan Siar - 2,834 per 100,000 population

  2. North Ayrshire - 2,191.4 per 100,000 population

  3. Easy Ayrshire - 2,176 per 100,000 population

  4. Falkirk - 2,067.1 per 100,000 population

  5. Clackmannanshire - 2,023.8 per 100,000 population

  6. West Dumbartonshire - 1, 992.3 per 100,000 population

  7. South Lanarkshire - 1,951.2 per 100,000 population

  8. Highland - 1,903.3 per 100,000 population

  9. East Lothian - 1.883.2 per 100,000 population

  10. East Dumbartonshire - 1,869.4 per 100,000 population

  11. Inverclyde - 1,827.1 per 100,000 populatoin

  12. Renfrewshire - 1,823.4 per 100,000 population

  13. South Ayrshire - 1,804 per 100,000 population

  14. Angus - 1,723.4 per 100,000 population

  15. North Lanarkshire - 1,704.3 per 100,000 population

  16. Moray - 1,633.1 per 100,000 population

  17. Stirling - 1,628.4 per 100,000 population

  18. Shetland Islands - 1.626.4 per 100,000 population
