VISAKHAPATNAM: Andhra Pradesh reported 1,597 new Covid-19 cases on Monday, taking the cumulative caseload to 23,05,052.
This is the lowest one-day case total in the last four weeks.
The toll increased to 14,672 as eight more people succumbed to the pandemic. Two people died of the disease in Visakhapatnam, and one each in Chittoor, East Godavari, Kurnool, Nellore, Prakasam and West Godavari.
Altogether, 8,766 patients were declared cured. There are currently 62,395 active cases with the 22,27,985 cumulative recoveries and 14,672 fatalities. The daily recoveries continue to outnumber the fresh cases since January 31, making it the eighth day to do so.
East Godavari reported 478 new cases on Monday, followed by Krishna (220), Guntur (144), Chittoor (123), Kadapa (117), and Vizianagaram (100). The remaining seven districts posted double-digit case numbers. The active caseload dropped to 62,395 on Monday from the peak of 1.16 lakh cases 10 days ago. Other than Prakasam, the remaining 12 districts have less than 10,000 active cases each.
Vizianagaram has 760 active cases, the lowest among all the districts. Andhra Pradesh conducted 18,601 Covid-19 tests and detected 1,597 new cases. This translates to a daily case positivity rate of 8.6%.
