COVID-19 case numbers from around the states and territories

Here's a quick wrap of each Australian jurisdiction's latest COVID-19 statistics for July 21, 2022.

Victoria

Victoria has recorded 37 new deaths and 14,312 new cases of the virus.

There are now 875 people in hospital with COVID-19, of whom 46 are in intensive care, and seven are on a ventilator.

New South Wales

The state has recorded 25 new deaths and 13,829 new cases of COVID-19.

NSW Health said 18 of those deaths were notified through the New South Wales Registry of Births Deaths and Marriages, and that not all reported deaths occurred "in the week in which they are reported as there is sometimes a delay".

There are 2,210 people in hospital with the virus, including 55 people in ICU.

Tasmania

Tasmania has recorded two new COVID-19-related deaths and 1,684 new cases of the virus.

There are 193 people in hospital, including two in ICU and 52 who are being treated specifically for the virus.

Northern Territory

The Northern Territory has recorded 669 new COVID-19 cases and 70 hospitalisations, including one in ICU.

No new deaths were recorded during the reporting period.

Queensland

Queensland has recorded 10 deaths and 11,687 new cases of COVID-19.

There are 1,034 people in hospital, including 21 in ICU.

Western Australia

Western Australia has recorded seven COVID-19 deaths dating back to June 28, which were reported to WA Health yesterday. They include three women in their 90s, a woman in her 80s and three men in their 80s.

There are 6,960 new cases and 459 people in hospital with the virus, including 22 in ICU.

Australian Capital Territory

The ACT has recorded one COVID-19-related death and 1,407 new cases.

There are 165 people in hospital with the virus, including 3 in ICU.

South Australia

SA has recorded seven deaths and 5,054 new COVID-19 cases.

There are 354 people in hospital, including 12 in ICU.
