After beginning the 2023 season with a 0-2 record, the Denver Broncos are in a hole they will need to climb out of in order to get back into the playoff hunt.
Players can’t go back in time and fix the mistakes that have already been made, but they can learn from those mistakes and not repeat them going forward.
Buy Broncos Tickets“Obviously we would love to be 2-0 or 1-1 in this situation, but [we can only] control the controllable,” wide receiver Courtland Sutton said after last week’s loss. “At this point, the game is over and you can’t go back and fix anything that has already happened. All we can do is move forward and continue to move forward. I don’t think we’ve had any Super Bowl champions that have been undefeated, maybe the Dolphins in the 70s.
“It’s on us to be able to rally and find a way to turn this thing around. I know you all hear it and have been hearing it, and no one wants to continue to say the same things but that is all we can do, control the controllable and move to next week and be ready to go down to Miami and take care of the Dolphins.”
Sutton, 27, caught five passes for 66 yards in a 35-33 loss to the Washington Commanders in Week 2. Through two games, Sutton has totaled nine receptions for 98 yards and one touchdown. Denver’s offense has mostly held up its end of the bargain so far — it’s the defense that has let the team down.
Players are not pointing fingers, though. There’s room for improvement across the board and the Broncos will aim to secure their first win of the season against the Miami Dolphins in Week 3.
