Courteney Cox has warned her daughter about the dangers of overexposing her skin to the sun from a young age.
The Scream actress, 58, has lamented her regret at how many hours she spent soaking up the sun’s UV radiation, as she says it did significant damage to her skin.
She is now determined that 18-year-old Coco, who she shares with ex-husband David Arquette, won’t make the same mistake.
Opening up in a new interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Cox – who is best known for playing Monica Geller in hit TV sitcom Friends – said she has advised the teen to limit her sunbathing.
She said: “I mean, the obvious is sun care. Don’t lay in the sun and don’t fry.
“I always say to my daughter: ‘Coco, your skin is incredible. Let me show you my chest,’
“Then she’s like, ‘Mom, I would never have that kind of skin.’ I’m like, ‘Yeah. Your face you always look at, but you forget your body. Wear sunscreen and care about your body. Really use the right products because it catches up.’”
Cox, who lives in California and enjoys an active lifestyle including playing tennis, now won’t leave her house without applying a good dose of suncream.
