A magistrate has brought an end to a criminal case against four teenagers accused of "serious offending" after finding an "entirely avoidable" police delay breached their human rights.
The four boys were aged between 14 and 16 when the alleged offences occurred on June 13 and 14, 2024.
Although police identified them as key suspects shortly after and completed most of their investigation by late 2024, the boys were not brought before the court until up to 15 months later.
