From sampling the brandy snaps to winning teddy bears - fair-goers have been speaking out about why they love the popular event so much. Thousands will be descending on the Forest Recreation Ground for the return of Goose Fair, which will continue until Sunday (October 9) after getting underway on Friday, October 30.
Grey weather for the first night of the festival failed to dent the spirits of those attending, and brighter weather has blessed the rest of the fair's first weekend. Those enjoying Goose Fair on Sunday (October 2) shared some of the reasons behind their love for the event.
After visiting the fair for an hour, Holly France, 24, and David Everitt, 31, had managed to win 10 teddy bears at a number of stalls. Holly said: "The best thing is being able to walk around, it's accessible.

"You can walk around the stalls and it's exciting. We're going to give out some of [the teddies] to children and families - it's just fun to collect them."
Maddie Dixon, 23, was visiting the Goose Fair with her boyfriend Ben Taylor, 23. For Maddie, the best thing about the Goose Fair is the food.
She said: "Just the smell of the food and the brandy snaps. Since I was born we would always come and get the brandy snaps and the mushy peas."
Elaine Todd, 52, was attending the fair along with husband Richard Todd and their daughter Clara. This was their first time at Goose Fair and their favourite thing was the cakewalk. Elaine's daughter agreed that the cakewalk was her favourite part of the fair and Elaine added: "This is the first time we've been here, she's enjoying it."
Emily Jones, 27, said she enjoys the rides. She said: "It's been a while since I've been here. It's fun, we're really enjoying it.
"I think the rides are the best thing. They bring the atmosphere with all the music and lights, it's really good."
This year's event is the first to be held since 2019, meaning that it has a longer run than usual. It will close at 9pm on Sunday (October 9).
Exciting new white knuckle rides announced for 2022 include Void and and UK's newest loop fighter Red Devil but if you're after something a little less hair-raising there's always the merry-go-rounds and big wheels, giving panoramic views of the city.
William Percival, chairman of the Nottinghamshire Showmen's Guild, said: "It is good to be back. There's a lot of new attractions so we are looking forward to a good ten days if possible."
