A couple who met in a pub 12 years ago have got engaged in the same bar after just two months of dating each other. Eddie Denshan and Danica Norton first met in The Angel over a decade ago, reports Grimsby Live.
The pair initially started out as friends but slowly built up a relationship before eventually deciding to make things official last year. The Grimsby couple only got together last month but are already taking the next step in their relationship.
During an impromptu night out in the place they first met, Danica was shocked when Eddie got down on one knee and proposed to her. The couple are now excited about planning their dream wedding and then spending the rest of their lives together.
Danica said: "We were in The Angel on Freeman Street with our friends, my cousin and her fiancé when all of a sudden Eddie got down on one knee and proposed. At first, I thought he was trying to tie his shoelaces when he bent down. I was quite shocked when he asked me to marry him.
"It wasn't a bad one though, I said yes immediately of course, even though we've only been together for two months." Although the engagement came quickly, Danica insists it was love at first sight for her and Eddie.
She added: "I knew straight away I wanted to marry him when we got together. We've known each other for 12 years now and started out just as friends when we first met. "
However, getting together was completely out of the blue, just like the marriage proposal. Daninca says her husband-to-be jumped the gun on their engagement plans.
She added: "I really had no idea that Eddie would ask me to marry him and I still can't believe it now to be honest, the whole thing has been amazing. The plan was to get engaged on Valentine's Day, but he couldn't wait and jumped the gun a little.
"I'm still waiting to come down to Earth before I can even start planning it, but I'm excited to get going on it all. This is a dream come true for me."
Eddie's spur of the moment proposal is something he says he will always remember. He said: "I really don't know what made me do it, I just thought about doing it and decided that it was the right time for it.
"I was quite confident she would say yes, but I was still nervous when I got down on one knee and asked. I'm so excited about marrying Danica though and can't wait to get everything ready."
He added: "Now we've got the pub to thank for a lot of things really. We've seen so many landlords and landladies pass through here, but the current one is great and has made the place feel really special."
