A daredevil climber has been arrested after scaling the Shard in London barefoot in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The 21-year-old man gave one couple who were staying at the iconic building the shock of their lives as he climbed past their window on the 40th floor. Paul Curphey from the Isle of Man, told the PA news agency how he and his partner were lying in bed when they saw someone “waving at the window”.
The couple described the surreal moment they waved back at the young man who was scaling the 1,016-foot building in central London barefoot.

Mr Curphey, 52, said it was “amazingly uplifting” to see the climber. “The climber was yelling in celebratory fashion,” the businessman said.
“He appeared, waving at the window, 40 floors up, already in the deep end so to speak. We couldn’t help but urge him on to complete his mission.
“He was smiling, waving, and having the time of his life."
Mr Curphey added the climber had a “happy demeanour”. “It was scary to see, but his happy demeanour was amazingly uplifting,” he said.
