A rugby player was left with two black eyes after being brutally attacked by a couple outside a bar in Abergavenny. Scott Whitney, 24, and his partner, Jade Watson, 26, left Casey Roomus lying unconscious in the middle of the street covered in blood having punched him and stamped on his head after an argument between the two parties escalated.
The incident, which happened outside Auberge in the town centre shortly after midnight on August 21, 2021, left the victim with a number of facial injuries and unable to play rugby for four weeks. Mr Roomus and the couple had argued inside the pub on Frogmore Street throughout the night, before Watson told the victim "your missus is a s**g" and Whitney repeatedly punched him in the face.
The defendants, both of St David’s Road, Abergavenny, appeared at Cardiff Crown Court for sentencing on Tuesday, August 9, having previously both pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
