A Nottinghamshire couple say that their Skegness holiday became a 'disaster' because of the hotel room they stayed in and that they have been unable to get a full refund. Glenys Launders, 75, arrived on the East Coast with her husband Graham, 80, on August 4 to enjoy a five-day break with their family.
One of their sons owns a caravan in Skegness, whilst another was staying at Butlin's during that week, and the trip was organised as a big family holiday. But Mrs Launders said that the hotel room in which she and her husband stayed, for which they payed £545, "wasn't fit for humans".
The couple, who live in the Langwith Junction area, on the Nottinghamshire border with Derbyshire, were staying at the Coasters Hotel on North Parade, which Mrs Launders had booked after looking at several options online and finding that the reviews for Coasters were "out of this world". But she said she noticed problems with the room she and her husband had been given as soon as they entered.
