Couple having links with Amritpal Singh's aide Papalpreet Singh detained in Jammu

JAMMU: In continuation with ongoing raids to catch the absconding 'Waris Punjab De' chief Amritpal Singh of Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir Police has detained a couple for their alleged links with one of his aides - Papalpreet Singh - from Ranbir Singh Pura area in Jammu outskirts. The couple was handed over to Punjab Police for further investigations.

In a message, Jammu Police on Saturday said, "Amrik Singh and his wife Sarabjeet Kour were detained and were handed over to Punjab Police."

"They have been detained for reportedly having links with Papalpreet Singh (a close aide of Amritpal Singh)", they said.

"Amrik Singh and his wife Sarabjeet Kour are residents of RS Pura but they were living in a rented property in Kullian where the raids were conducted late on Friday," police said.

As per the police sources, the mobile phones of the couple have also been seized for further investigation.

They added that Punjab Police while scrutinizing the call details of Papalpreet Singh found his links with Amrik Singh.

"Papalpreet' reportedly had been working with Amritpal closely since he returned to India last year and took over the reins of 'Waris Punjab De', an organisation founded by actor Deep Sidhu. Sidhu grabbed the media limelight following the Red Fort violence during the farmers' rally on Republic Day 2021 and later died in a road accident Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) highway near Sonepat on Feb 2022.
