A Kentucky couple recently had a stroke of luck when they found a lost lottery ticket that ended up winning them a $50,000 prize. The story began when Mark Perdue purchased a Powerball ticket for the Oct. 30 drawing at an AM Express store in Bowling Green. A week later, the store owner informed him that he had won the lottery, which came as a surprise to Perdue.
However, the challenge was locating the winning ticket. Perdue and his wife spent over three months searching for it, fearing it was gone forever. Eventually, they stumbled upon the ticket in a company car that Perdue had inspected. It had apparently fallen out of his pocket during a previous use of the vehicle.
After confirming the ticket's authenticity, the couple visited the lottery headquarters and received a check for $36,000 after taxes. They planned to use the winnings to pay off bills and possibly take a vacation.
In a similar incident, a Nebraska man named Lucas Swarthout forgot about a $2 scratch-off lottery ticket he had purchased and left it in his glove compartment for three months. Upon rediscovering the ticket, he found out he had won a 2023 Ford F-150 XLT 4x4 Crew Cab Flex Fuel truck worth $81,000. The Nebraska Lottery also covered the taxes and registration fees for Swarthout's new vehicle, making the win even sweeter.
