Couple died while trying to save their children after boat capsized in high winds

A couple drowned as they tried to save their children from a boat which suddenly capsized.

Joshua Prindle and his wife Jessica had taken a trip on the lake with 11 other members of their family last weekend when tragedy struck.

Authorities believe the vessel flipped owing to high winds, throwing everybody on board into the water.

The couple, who had been married for 10 years, were killed as they helped their four children.

Jesus Ramires, the kids’ uncle, set up a GoFundMe page to pay for their joint funeral, as well as a trust fund for the children.

He wrote: “My family and I have suffered a tremendous loss.

“On Sunday, May 29, there was a boat accident at Pueblo Reservoir in Colorado 13 of my family members were involved in this boating accident.

“There were five adults and eight children when this incident took place.

"Unfortunately, the boat turned over and caused 11 people to go to the hospital.

"Jessica was pronounced dead on May 29 and Josh was pronounced dead on May 31.”

Jessica and Josh have been married for 10 years and have four beautiful children together.

Josh was active military and was currently stationed at Ft. Carson.

Jesus wrote: “Jessica loved working with children and was starting her own party planning company.

"They both were kind-hearted people who would do anything to help anyone and in their last moments that is exactly what they did by helping their children survive.”

Joe Stadterman, park manager at Lake Pueblo and MERT team member, reminded people to wear life jackets when on water.

He told CBS: “Our MERT team worked all night and around 5:45am we located a victim in 107feet of water.

“This is a tragic loss of life and it underscores the importance of being extremely careful around the water.

“If you are on or even near the water, we strongly urge you to wear a life jacket."

The GoFundMe site has so far raised around £20,000.

Last month a man tragically drowned as he tried to copy the iconic flying pose in the Titanic movie with his girlfriend.

Furkan Ciftci and girlfriend Mine Dinar, both aged 23, tumbled over into the sea in, Izmit, Turkey, after trying to create the iconic Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet pose.

The couple, who had been drinking alcohol on a fishing trip, chose the edge of the pier for the perfect picture - but tragedy struck when both of them fell into the sea, Daily Star reported.

Furkan and Mine reportedly crossed a security chain to pose on the edge of the pier, with the pair falling into the water soon after their attempt at recreating the iconic scene from the James Cameron-directed feature.
