The Harambee Pasadia Afro-Fusion Arts Festival is back for 2022 with a line-up of musicians, performers, and activities, promised to be bigger and better than ever before.
Harambee Pasadia festival is a four-day music and arts extravaganza in celebration of diverse cultures, foods, music, artists and fusions of the African diaspora. Harambee in Swahili means 'Let's get together' and Pasadia in Spanish means 'to spend the day'.
The festival will run from Thursday June 23 to Sunday June 26 at the HUB in Barnard Castle, County Durham.
It is a family-friendly camping event, which invites people to get together and spend the day while enjoying a range of exciting activities. The festival allows its visitors to experience a diverse cultural event that celebrates and promotes music, arts, and cultures.

The line-up is inclusive and impressive featuring world-renowned musicians, arts practitioners, and DJs. Expect to hear an eclectic mix of Afrobeat, jazz, reggae, funk, Latin, and traditional music.
With a wide range of workshops, art and sports activities, everyone of all ages can get involved. To top off a perfect weekend, the festival has a wide selection of foods with a licensed bar on site.
In addition, the programme will treat festival attendees to an array of sports activities and workshops. Whether you are interested in wellbeing and health, yoga and meditation, BMX, sensory spaces, camping, kayaking, canoeing, high ropes, drumming, pottery, or dance - the festival is sure to have something for everyone.
In the Speaker's Corner, there will be a series of talks, presentations, workshops and panel discussions on leadership, confidence, healthy eating, race and identity, cultural activism, poetry and more. There will be a diverse line-up of speakers and presenters including artists, activists and young people.
Thursday, June 23 will be a Speaker’s Corner Takeover focusing on the collective wisdom, experience, and energy of inspirational women of all ages and backgrounds.
Harambee Pasadia was founded and organised by Newcastle-based musicians Dr Hannabiell Sanders and Yilis del Carmen Suriel. Hannabiell is the composer and director for ‘Hannabiell &the Midnight Blue Collective’ and ‘Ladies of Midnight Blue’, who both perform regularly around the UK and abroad. Hannabiell &the Midnight Blue Collective, with their unique ‘afro psychedelic’ sound is a fusion of Afro-Caribbean and Latin percussion, jazz, Afrobeat, funk and reggae.
The festival aims to encourage unity and bring people from diverse backgrounds together, bridging the culture gap through performances, workshops, and the shared experience of Afro-fusion music and dance. Hannabiell and Yilis have extended the invitation to everyone to come to Harambee Pasadia.
This year's festival will present a multitude of artists including Kevin Haynes Grupo Elegua, Hannabiell & the Midnight Blue Collective, Colectiva, Sidiki Dembele Denifari, LayFullstop, Aida Diop, TBaze, Chiedu Oraka, Voices of Virtue Gospel Choir, Let Drum Beat, Ladies of Midnight Blue, Knats, Dilutey Juice, Ella Mesma, Georgia May, Colibri Cobra, Yersin Rivas, SaySo, Baque de Ogum, DJ Sequinella, Raw Vibe, DJ Claude Cunningham, DJ Awkward Black Girl, DJ Devolicious, Santa Leticia, Zero dB, Yoli, Samara, DJ Erv Musique, Common Unity Sound System and many more.

An event to provide opportunities for people interested in learning a range of practical skills including carpentry, painting, sewing and decorating. Everyone is welcome, regardless of skill or experience.
