Country music star avoids criminal charges for $16,000 in damage to hotel room

  • Country singer Bailey Zimmerman has avoided criminal charges after being accused of causing over $16,000 in damage to a hotel room at Sandia Resort and Casino in Albuquerque, New Mexico .
  • A warrant was issued for the 26-year-old's arrest last week on charges of felony criminal damage to property and falsely obtaining services, a misdemeanor, following an incident on May 27.
  • The Bernalillo County District Attorney’s Office dismissed the case after Zimmerman made full restitution for the damages and publicly took 'full accountability' for his alleged behavior.
  • Court documents indicate Zimmerman, who had canceled a concert due to illness, appeared intoxicated, was angry with his band and manager, and caused damage to the hotel room, including a broken TV, damaged furniture, and a hole in the wall.
  • Zimmerman issued a statement apologizing to the Pueblo of Sandia, the resort, and his fans, acknowledging his actions were disrespectful and promising to learn and grow from the experience.
