
As England began the Second Test against South Africa at Old Trafford this morning, the bosses of county clubs were poring over the recommendations presented to them by Andrew Strauss’s High Performance Review into the elite men’s game in this country.
Strauss and his team have been beavering away since England’s dismal Ashes defeat last winter in a bid to create a more effective county schedule. Wherever you sit on this particular matter, there is agreement that this year’s schedule has not worked.
