A FAR-RIGHT anti-immigration protest due to take place in Edinburgh this week is set to be met by counter protesters.
On Saturday, Unite the Clans has organised a protest outside the French Consulate in the Scottish capital at 12pm.
The far-right group is calling for France to be held accountable for "taking our money" and "letting the boats flood in".
In a post advertising the protest on social media, Unite the Clans Scotland said: "We pay France £662 million to stop the small boats.
"Your money. Your taxes. Paid to them to stop them.
"They take our money – they let the boats sail".
Unite the Clans first drew major attention in March when it staged a demonstration outside the Scottish Parliament, urging "patriots" to gather from across the country, which was met by around 1000 counter-protesters.
Prominent figures within the group have previously voiced support for Hitler, and other attendees linked to their events include a member of Patriotic Alternative photographed with a banner bearing the neo-Nazi "Fourteen Words" slogan.
At a Unite the Clans rally in Glasgow in July, a group of protesters were seen shouting abuse and throwing a traffic cone at a delivery driver.
The Edinburgh and Lothians branch of Stand Up to Racism (SUTR) has now organised a counter demonstration, taking place at St Giles Cathedral on the Royal Mile from 11am.
The group urged people to bring placards and banners to the counter demonstration.
"Unite the Clans is not some peaceful protest organisation," SUTR said in a statement.
"It is seeking to build a street movement opposed to migrant, LGBTQ+, women's and Palestinian rights."
The statement continued: "Stand Up to Racism will not let Unite the Clans go unopposed.
"We urge anti-racists, trade unionists, Palestine activists, community groups, migrant groups and others to join our demonstration to show that Edinburgh won't tolerate hate, refugees are welcome here, no one is illegal, and we won't let the racists divide us."
