COUNT Binface made his debut at the Edinburgh Fringe by taking a brutal dig at Nigel Farage.
The intergalactic space warrior took to the stage in the capital on Wednesday, following his most successful result by-election result yet.
Binface – real name Jon Harvey – emerged as Farage's main opponent in the Clacton by-election, amid a boycott by the other major parties.
He came in second place, with 9455 votes, while the Reform UK leader won comfortably with 22,239.
Binface announced his Edinburgh Fringe debut in the wake of the Clacton result, promising "a one-hour dose of political comedy and sci-fi satire" with his show Count Binface: Face of the Establishment, in reference to Farage's claim that Binface was the "candidate of the establishment".
He was joined on stage halfway through the show by former Conservative MP turned-comedian Gyles Brandreth.
Brandreth asked Binface what he had learned about Farage given he "spent more time with him and thinking about him than anyone else" in the run-up to the Clacton by-election.
"I spent precisely the same amount of time with him as anybody else," Binface replied.
"Because he's a fucking coward – or there was a police threat, and we need to take it seriously, one of the two.
"If we see evidence of that, then you know, it's serious, but the police gave me all assurances."
Farage refused to turn up to the Clacton by-election count after saying Essex Police advised him that there was a credible threat against him – a claim the force has denied.
Binface also refuted the claim, saying that he had asked Essex Police if there was "any credible threat of disruption".
"I can tell you they said unequivocally none," Binface said at the time.
The satirical candidate told the Edinburgh Fringe audience: "I think we learned that he can't take a joke.
"Britain has fallen down a pecking order in so many ways. But if there's one thing the UK still does better than anywhere else on your planet – it's knowing how to take the piss and not letting your politicians have too much deference."
"Is there an equivalent of me in China or Russia or North Korea? The point is, this freedom, what we are doing right now, democracy, it's expensive.
"You could have a planned economy, and have no freedom whatsoever.
"But isn't it brilliant you get to do this? You get to vote for whoever you want, you get to stand for election, no matter what you look like."
The space warrior later went on to emphasise that democracy is "rare", and that there is only "one planet in the entire omniverse still using democracy at all".
"The fact you've got this is incredible. Embrace it," he said.
"There are forces inside and outside your country right now that would degrade and destroy your democracy if they could. Don't let it.
"The fact that Farage won – fair play, or probably unfair play, I don't know. But you know what I mean, he got the most votes, he's the member of Parliament, that's how it works.
"And if you want to challenge him, challenge him."
Binface thanked audience members for attending the show, saying "it warms my central fluid pumping organ".
He added: "Keep fighting the good fight for democracy.
"Whatever you do in your life, don't sweat the small stuff, but equally don't say that you can't sweat at all."
