A councillor has hit out at selfish motorists over dangerous parking at Ravenscraig Sports Centre.
Motherwell South East and Ravenscraig Labour councillor Kenneth Duffy has called on Police Scotland to do more about the situation at the sports centre.
The councillor has received a number of complaints from local residents who are worried that people parking here dangerously will one day cause an accident.
One resident said: “Its absolute pandemonium and an accident to waiting to happen in my opinion.
“This week was the worst I have ever seen with cars also lining the main road outside on both sides and around the roundabout (Roberhall Road) making it incredibly dangerous there too in terms of visibility and access.
“The police could come and make a fortune in revenue from parking tickets every week.”
Councillor Duffy told Lanarkshire Live : “I have written to the local police team to arrange a site visit to discuss the complaints that have been raised. There needs to be targeted action taken, especially over the weekends.
“My constituents are right to feel unsafe and to call this out.
"We need greater police attention here and a council plan for better signage, road markings and available parking.
“I will be working with the council and Police Scotland to try and help put an end to this.”
Police Scotland have been approached for comment.
