Sefton Council has issued an update on the bin collection delays that have affected the borough.
Disruptions have led to some households not having their rubbish removed for over three weeks. A spokesperson for the council stated the delays are a result of 'on the ground staff' being taken ill with covid which has led to a shortage of available crews to carry out the necessary work.
Today Sefton Council posted advice on its Facebook page for residents still waiting for their bins to be emptied. It said: "Please continue to present your bin in its usual way and present other bins as per your schedule. We are working hard during these difficult circumstances."

Disruptions started on April 19 and residents have again voiced their complaints about the delays one woman said: "Unhappy with our bin collections. They missed our road brown bins two weeks ago, logged it as a missed collection online and nobody came so brown bins have been out every day for two weeks, and now our green bins have been missed too."
However, the Council has not given a time frame for when the collections will be made saying: "Collections are taking place and we reiterate our apologies for the disruption this has caused residents."
