SEALIFE enthusiasts have been left wondering if the walrus who delighted thousands in Yorkshire on New Year’s Eve could be heading to Scotland after he was spotted moving up the British coast.
Walruses are a rare sight on the Scottish mainland. When one named "Wally" was seen around Caithness and Sutherland in 2018, it was the first sighting since 1954.
However a large crowd gathered in the Northumberland town of Blyth on Monday lunchtime after a walrus was spotted resting on a wooden pontoon at the yacht club – with the assumption being that this is the same animal, named "Thor".
