With the team in the midst of its bye week, the Las Vegas Raiders (2-7) entered losers of five straight.
There’s been a myriad of issues throughout this front half of the season for Las Vegas. Instability and poor play from its quarterbacks and a rushing offense that ranks second-to-last in yardage in the NFL have been chief among the Raiders’ issues.
As Raider fans wonder what might be next, ESPN analyst Jordan Reid shared a midseason prediction for Las Vegas.
Reid’s prediction is one that will be met with celebration from plenty in the Raider Nation. Reid is forecasting that the Raiders will lose out and have the top pick in the 2025 NFL draft.
After firing offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, a strong argument could be made they are already the worst team in the NFL. There are nine teams with two or fewer wins, which is tied for the most teams through Week 9 since the 1970 merger, per ESPN Research (nine teams in 2006).
The Raiders have lost their past five games, and I expect that streak to climb to 13 by season’s end. They’ll have the No. 1 overall pick for the first time since 2007, when they selected JaMarcus Russell with the franchise’s only top selection. – Reid, ESPN.
Coming into Sunday, those other eight teams with two wins include the Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, Cleveland Browns, Tennessee Titans, Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Giants, Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints.
In a Sunday matchup of two of those teams, Carolina topped New York in overtime, 20-17, as part of the NFL’s International Series from Munich.
The Raiders will see three of those teams in the back half of their 2024 season, including Miami who Las Vegas plays next after the bye week on Nov. 23.
Las Vegas will also host Jacksonville on Dec. 22 and then travel to New Orleans on Dec. 29. The Raiders lost to Carolina in Week 3 and beat Cleveland the following week.
