During a recent interview on JJ Redick’s “Old Man and the Three” podcast, former Boston Celtics champion Rajon Rondo revealed how he tries to out-coach the coaches he plays against.
In a viral moment from the interview, Rondo discusses how he once tried to out-think Brad Stevens during the 2017 playoffs before he went down with an injury.
In a recent episode of the “Green With Envy” podcast, the hosts discuss whether Rondo’s cerebral style of play and high basketball IQ are indicators of a future head coach in the NBA. Of course, the discussion evolved into whether Rondo could find himself leading the Celtics as their head coach.
Rondo hasn’t played in the NBA since the 2021-22 season, when he split time between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Cleveland Cavaliers. After missing his age-36 season, it’s unlikely the talented guard will return to the NBA as a player.
