Cotton Heads into the Weekend with Strength

Cotton futures were back to rally mode on Friday, with front month up 116 to 130 points at the close. December was 40 points higher on the week. Crude oil was $1.15 per barrel higher, with the US dollar index $0.320 lower.

Commitment of Traders data showed managed money adding another 10,591 contracts to their net long in cotton futures and options during the week ending on August 11. That net long stood at 78,870 contracts on Tuesday, the largest in over 2 years.

Export Sales data has 2025/26 accumulated export business at 11.977 million RB, which is 107% of the USDA export projection. Accumulated shipments were 11.198 million RB to round out the marketing year. New crop business at 4.026 million RB is 25% above the same period last year.

The Cotlook A Index was steady on August 13 on Wednesday at 94.95 cents. ICE certified cotton stocks were down 1,779 bales on Wednesday, with the certified stocks level at 75,985 bales. The Adjusted World Price was raised by 190 points on Thursday to 68.19 cents/lb.

Oct 26 Cotton closed at 83.6, up 124 points,

Dec 26 Cotton closed at 84.8, up 130 points,

Mar 27 Cotton closed at 86.68, up 126 points
