Cotton Facing Thursday Weakness

Cotton futures are trading with contracts 85 to 109 points lower across most months on Thursday. Crude oil is down $1.32 per barrel, with the US dollar index $0.054 lower.

Export Sales showed a total of 778,939 RB carried over from the 2025/26 marketing year in the week of 8/6, with 126,050 RB in new sales. Shipments totaled 208,374 RB in the week of August 6.

USDA’s Crop Production report from Wednesday morning showed cotton down just 90,000 bales to 13.61 million bales. Acres were raised by 0.62 million acres to 10.47 million. Yield was trimmed by 74 lbs/ac to 798 lbs. Old crop stocks were unchanged at 4.2 million bales, with new crop down 100,000 bales to 4 million.

The Cotlook A Index was back up 50 points on Wednesday at 94.95 cents. ICE certified cotton stocks were down 2,977 bales on August 12, with the certified stocks level at 77,764 bales. The Adjusted World Price was raised by 163 points last week to 66.29 cents/lb. It will be updated later today.

Oct 26 Cotton is at 82.12, down 109 points,

Dec 26 Cotton is at 83.53, down 85 points,

Mar 27 Cotton is at 85.38, down 94 points
