Cotswolds holiday home business relocates to larger office

A fast-growing Cotswolds holiday home rental business has relocated to a larger office in Gloucestershire.

StayCotswold has moved into a shop on Digbeth Street in Stow-on-the-Wold, having previously been based in Burford, in the Oxfordshire district of the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Previously occupied by a greeting cards business, the facility has now been fitted out to accommodate StayCotswold’s expanding workforce, which has grown from three to 13 over the past 18 months.

Founded by Fergus Mitchell in 2009, the business was acquired in April of last year by Mat Faraday, Tom Burdett and Tracy Archer - all of whom had previously held senior roles in other holiday cottages businesses.

StayCotswold said the number of properties in its portfolio has more than doubled from 60 to 140 since the business changed hands. It added that bookings per property had “significantly” increased to an average of 50 a year, with booking levels this summer 13% ahead of the same period in 2021.

Ms Archer said there was “growing demand” for short breaks in the Cotswolds, especially among people living in the London area and from overseas.

She added the business was looking to add “dozens more” properties to its listings over the coming months. Ms Archer said: “We know from our previous experience that a high street location is the optimum place to be for the business.

“Relocating to fantastic new headquarters in the centre of Stow and being so accessible to owners and potential guests makes it a truly exciting time for the business and demonstrates our confidence in our offering and the potential for the brand.”
