Costco cake decorator takes instruction too literally and makes hilariously bad blunder

When ordering a personalised cake, customers are asked to provide as much detail as possible so their decorator can recreate their vision. But things don't always go as planned, as one Costco customer came to learn.

The customer put through a request for a 'special order cake' - asking for 'no writing/no design, only request red frosting on perimeter for top/bottom'. Alongside their instructions, they drew an "uneven" 3D rectangle with red and black edges.

But it wasn't until they went to collect their cake that they realised their decorator took their instructions a little too literally. Taking to Reddit, they said: "Costco will give you exactly what you know you didn't need."

Misunderstanding the customer's instructions, the decorator simply drew the 3D rectangle onto the otherwise blank cake using red and black icing.

Commenting on the cake, one user said: "If I received this cake, I'd laugh and take it home so the others can laugh with me with the special instructions on top of the casing.

"I can't stop laughing at how good the replicated drawing is."

Another user added: " "It's impressive how accurately they imitated the poor perspective on it as well."

A third user said: "I'm speechless, honestly. I mean, they even drew all the unevenness of the drawing. Incredible."

One more user added: "Honestly, if my birthday cake came like this and they showed me the instructions for the cake maker, I’d just laugh my a*** off.

"It would be remembered as a hilarious memory for the rest of my life and be brought up constantly when a cake needs to be made for someone."

It comes after a former teacher shared how she left her career in education to work at Costco, saying it's the best decision she has ever made.

Maggie Perkins, 30, quit her teaching position because the "conditions were not suitable to have a quality of life" - and hasn't looked back since.

She can't believe she limited herself to one career - saying working at Costco has provided her with a work, life, balance for the first time in her life.

She worked 60 hour weeks for under £50,000 (£40,200) for five years - and constantly worried about having enough money to cover her bills.

Taking to TikTok, she said: "I used to be a teacher and now I work at Costco. I do not miss it at all. My pace of my work life now is so much better.

"I am not sick or exhausted like I used to be when I was a teacher. When I was a teacher, I used my break basically to recover and go into the next semester of just surviving."
