With families looking to enjoy themselves on a budget, there's no better time to watch the pennies with our six Chroniclelive cost-cutters, all correct on 5 April 2022.
1. If you happen to be near an M&S store at mealtime, why not treat yourself to a coffee break, and feed the kids for free into the bargain? The deal is on now until Friday, April 22, and is available at all M&S cafes, including Metro Centre and Newcastle. 2. Clean up a bargain day out by looking out for promotional bottles of Carex handwash when you go shopping. If you can get your hands on one, you can get half-price entry to three attractions – Alton Towers, Chessington World of Adventures and Sealife Centres, including the one in Tynemouth. One promotional bottle gets you one half-price entry, so if you want to use this for the family, you'll need multiple bottles. You must book online via this link and select which attraction you’d like to visit. However, you'll need to take the bottles with you to the attraction, as you'll need to show the 'v' code which you can find on the back of the promotional bottle.
3. Vue Cinemas is extending its Mini Mornings deal to every morning during the school holidays. Children aged 2-12yrs can get cinema tickets from £2.49 when booked online or via the app every morning during school holidays. And accompanying adults get in for £2.49 too – so as long as there's at least one child in your group. You can buy tickets on the day, but it'll cost £1 more per ticket. The current film showing at Vues in Hartlepool and Metro Cebntre is Rabbit Academy.
4. Not to be outdone, Cineworld in Boldon, Dalton Park and Newcastle have pretty much the same deal running, albeit costing 1p more, at £2.50 per person. However, the price jumps up to £3.25 including a 75p booking g fee if you choose to buy online. As well as Rabbit Academy, Cineworld is also offering Clifford, Encanto and Peter Rabbit 2 as part of its Movies for Juniors promo. Like Vue, as long as there's at least one child (14 and under) in your group, the whole family pays the same price.
5. If you're going further afield, family favourite Edinburgh Zoo have a great kids go free offer if you buy a Scot Rail ticket. If you travel to Edinburgh on a kids go free ticket from Scot Rail (kids aged 5-15 travel free off-peak across any Scot Rail route), and present your ticket at the zoo, you can get free child entry. The train ticket needs to be valid for that particular day and you can no longer buy tickets on the gate and will need to book in advance online. As child's entry to the zoo is £11.35, it's worth buying the cheapest Scot Rail ticket you can find just to get the offer.
6. And finally, Morrisons have a good offer to feed your entire family for £10 at one of their cafes. The bundle includes two adult meals, two kids meals and drinks for all.
