The Department of Social Protection has asked people to remain vigilant amid a wave of fraudulent text messages.
The fraudsters claim to be from the department and ask people to submit details in exchange for their cost of living payments. The scam operates primarily through text messages but people should also take note of phone calls claiming to be from the department.
Officials are urging people not to engage with the scam and avoid passing on any bank details. Staff from the Department will never ask for personal details via text message.
