Two protests are planned for Newcastle city centre this weekend, with people gathering to rally against against the Government's controversial new police and crime bill and the rising cost of living.
The first event, held at the Civic Centre from 1pm on Saturday, will oppose Priti Patel's crime bill which seeks to give police in England and Wales more power to clamp down on non-violent protests.
Demonstrators from several groups, including Resist NCL, North East Against Racism, ACORN Newcastle and XR North East, said they intend to make their "voices heard, to stand up, and to fight back."

The Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts bill (PCSC) is a huge piece of legislation that covers major proposed changes on crime and justice in England and Wales.
Although some of the most controversial elements of the PCSC Bill were voted down in the Lords in January, protestors say they still need to take a stand against the criminalisation of the right to peacefully protest.
Saturday's event follows multiple 'Kill the Bill' protests staged by the group at Forth Banks Police Station over the last few weeks.
A statement from the organisers said: "The bill criminalises trespass and has a blatantly racist section geared towards Gypsy, Romani and Traveller communities.
"It increases stop and search powers, at a time when they are already being abused by the police.
"This Bill affects the most vulnerable in our society - we must join together to defeat it. When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty.
"Whoever you are, whatever your background, we are calling on you to join us - only together can we defeat these draconian measures and safeguard all in society."
The Home Office have said that current laws to manage highly disruptive protests are "out of date and not fit for purpose".
And that the new measures in the bill are designed to "tackle the selfish minority of protesters who are highly disruptive and whose actions endanger the public."
On Saturday, the People's Assembly have plans to stage a different protest at Grey's Monument at 1pm.
It's a 'Cost of living rally', intended to draw attention to the financial hardship felt by millions of households as the energy regulator announced a 54% rise in energy costs from April.
This comes on top of rising food and petrol prices, and hikes in national insurance tax from April.
The People's Assembly have events planned in many cities throughout the UK, including Liverpool, Birmingham and Glasgow.
