Cost of Japan’s popular tourist train pass to rise to £247

Japan

Japan Rail Pass prices are set to increase from 1 October, affecting tourists travelling by train.
An adult week pass for a standard train carriage will rise by £14 to £247, while premium Green Car week passes will increase by £19 to £345.
Three-week passes will also see price hikes, with standard adult tickets going up by £23 to £490 and premium seats by £33 to £685.
The JR Group said the price revision is due to previous ticket price adjustments made by some JR companies.
Separately, tourists are being urged to stop throwing coins into the crystal-clear ponds at Mount Fuji's Oshino Hakkai village due to concerns over water quality and the natural environment.
