Coronation Street doesn't shy away from the awkward moments, and teeth were clenched as Craig Tinker popped the question to his love Faye Windass on Friday night (April 21). Policeman Craig donned a smart suit and went down on one knee in front of loved-ones after becoming increasingly jealous of Faye's ex Jackson Hodge, who recently returned to the street with their daughter Miley.
It was a hilariously cringey moment as they were serenaded by barmaid Glenda Shuttleworth with factory worker Kirk Sutherland on guitar performing John Legend's All Of Me. As Faye and Jackson's eyes met it appeared that she might say no.
However, she quickly snapped out of it and said yes as lovestruck Craig gushed about getting married. Later Faye reassured a worried Craig after Jackson got into his head and he learned that her ex had asked Faye to move away with him to start a new life.

Faye reassured Craig that there was no future for her and Jackson and that it was Craig she wants. "I know what I want in my life and that's you Craig," she told him. But as he hugged her she looked unsure.
Over on Instagram, Corrie stars exchanged jokey insults on Instagram as actor Colson Smith, who plays Craig, shared a picture of himself holding out the engagement ring. "Can you believe it, Craig Tinker getting down on one knee?" he asked.
Lucy Fallon, who played Craig's ex Bethany Platt, waded in by saying: "Not happy x" then Ellie Leach, who plays Faye, clapped back jokingly: "You win some you lose some #loser." And Colson also replied to Lucy "you’re in London or Milan aren’t you?" But soap watcher kerri_broomfield told Lucy that Ellie's character Faye probably won't be in the picture for much longer. "You can come back to scare her off the street, she’s leaving anyway," she messaged.
In the ITV soap Bethany was friends with Craig and they grew closer after he supported her after her grooming ordeal with evil Nathan Curtis. She went on to date Daniel Osbourne when he was on the rebound grieving for his late wife Sinead, so Bethany left Weatherfield to start a new life in London in 2020.
Craig and Faye, who is reportedly leaving the show this summer, were childhood friends and then long-term boyfriend and girlfriend. He was by her side when she secretly went into labour with Miley after falling pregnant at the age of 12.
But Faye is now wrestling with her emotions after the daughter she gave up so could start a new life in Canada with her dad, came back into her life. Jackson made contact again after returning to the UK and Faye explained to stepmum Sally Metcalfe that she came to terms with never being a mother after finding out she's going through early menopause.
