Mollie Gallagher is loving ditching her gothic Weatherfield kit for sexy sequins on Dancing On Ice.
The Coronation Street star won an award for playing gloomy Nina Lucas in the soap.
But now she’s happy to be putting on the glitz – and reveals her rocker boyfriend Dan Myers, a guitarist in indie band Inego, is also thrilled by her new look.
Mollie says: “Dan is absolutely loving all my outfits. He’s excited to be a part of it.”
But the actress, 25, who is partnering co-star Samia Longchambon’s hubby Sylvain on the ice, admits it’s weird seeing herself on TV as Mollie rather than dressed in her goth costumes as Nina.
She says: “It’s definitely harder being Mollie. I can watch myself as Nina in Corrie and feel fine, I still watch it all the time. But whenever I watch myself back in interviews, it’s a different feeling.”
Mollie joined the ITV soap as Roy Cropper’s niece Nina in 2019 and within two years had won a National Television Award after Nina was the victim of a hate crime attack due to her appearance.
It has been a fast rise to the top for the star, who grew up in a family of Corrie fans – and whose mum Deborah, a supermarket worker, always dreamt of a showbiz career of her own. Mollie says: “It’s probably one of the things I am most proud of, being a working class actress on a working class soap. I was lucky enough to get a full scholarship to drama school.
“If I hadn’t, I wouldn’t have been where I am today. I feel lucky. It’s important other working class people get similar opportunities.”
Meanwhile, she is quick to scotch bizarre rumours she is Liam Gallagher’s daughter. Fans mix her up with model Molly Moorish Gallagher, 24, who the Oasis frontman shares with singer Lisa Moorish.
Mollie says: “I get asked this all the time. My dad was in the audience of Dancing On Ice last week. I should have got him a T-shirt saying ‘I am not Liam Gallagher’.”
