Coronation Street’s Summer Spellman is embroiled in a drugs scandal next week on the ITV soap, as Aaron Sandford's torment causes an outburst.
Summer (Harriet Bibby) and Aaron (James Craven) find themselves innocently caught up in the drama during next week’s Coronation Street, owing to her boyfriend’s abusive father.
This comes after Aaron recently told Summer that his dad has a problem with alcohol and occasionally lashes out under the influence.
Although he didn’t reveal the true extent of his troubled home life, the couple made a deal: Summer will keep Aaron’s secret if he doesn’t tell anyone about her diabulimia.
The couple have now found themselves in a dangerous situation, as ITV spoilers have revealed that Aaron tells Summer he has confiscated his dad’s wallet to stop him buying booze, but also found a bag of cannabis.
Before long, the pair have decided to take the drugs themselves, only for Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) and Todd Grimshaw ( Gareth Pierce ) to find a giggly Summer and Aaron high on freshly baked weed brownies.
Billy is appalled and sends them off to hide as the bishop is due to visit, but when the bishop himself reaches for a brownie, the situation could be set to worsen, particularly when Aaron's father causes trouble.
The following day, he arrives at the garage in a visibly drunk state, quickly turning volatile.
He threatens his son over the stolen cash and weed, before Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) sends him packing.
Yet when Summer later meets up with Aaron, she is shocked to discover that he was badly beaten by his dad when he got home.
Meanwhile, having heard from Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) about Aaron stealing weed from his dad, a protective Paul (Peter Ash) arrives at the flat and lays into Aaron for leading Summer astray.
However, when Paul grabs his injured arm, Aaron winces in pain and lashes out.
Summer is shocked as Aaron punches Paul, and the latter announces he's calling the police. As Aaron then reveals to Billy the extent of his dad's abuse, Billy heads out to stop Paul from reporting the lad. Will he reach him in time?
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV.
