Coronation Street’s Emma Brooker has been keeping her budding romance on the soap secret, knowing best friend Faye Windass would not approve.
But the truth is set to unravel in dramatic scenes on the ITV soap next week, as Faye (Ellie Leach) and boyfriend Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) inch closer to learning her mystery man is Jon Spear (Jordan Ford Silver), the grandson of pensioner Ted.
Ted died after he was knocked down by Emma (Alexandra Mardell) and Faye, although the pair originally thought he was fine, they later discovered he had passed away in his flat.
Emma and Faye have desperately tried to keep the secret under wraps, as Faye was determined to get her life back on track after being released from prison.
But Emma found romance in an unlikely place and her relationship with Jon has gone from strength to strength, unbeknown to best friend Faye.
But ITV spoilers have revealed that Emma hasn’t done enough to stop the secret from coming out, as when ex-copper Craig asks Emma to walk the dog Peanut, she asks Jon to come along with her.
But when the pair set off on a walk, Beth (Lisa George) bumps into them and a horrified Emma is forced to introduce Jon, but claims he is an old school friend.
Beth then later mentions the run-in to Craig and he’s immediately suspicious that Emma is seeing Jon.
Craig decides to confront Emma, but she is adamant in her denials, but Craig remains suspicious.
If Emma is seeing Jon, and he finds out the truth of what happened to his granddad, the consequences for Emma and Faye would be enormous - not to mention for Craig, who is hopeful about a future return to the police force.
But Emma is ignoring the looming danger and continues to enjoy spending time with Jon, lying with Faye and Craig and saying she’s seeing an old school friend.
Craig quit his police constable position in a bid to protect both Faye and Emma from any repercussions from what happened to Ted.
But he has been unhappy and resentful towards Faye about the decision, and so finally decided to make a move out of the Underworld factory and return to doing what he enjoys.
Craig is understandably anxious that Emma's connection with Jon could jeopardise his return to the force.
Meanwhile, Jon has some important news for Emma that could change everything. After he inherited a whopping amount of money from Ted, he is thinking of using the cash injection to fund a move to Australia to start a new life, which could be a huge relief to Craig and Faye.
