Coronation Street star Will Mellor has teased a possibly deadly twist for villain Harvey Gaskell.
The Strictly Come Dancing star plays evil Harvey on the ITV soap, with new scenes set to see Nick Tilsley ( Ben Price ) take his son Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) to visit Harvey in prison as he's determined to get answers. Sam insists there must be a reason why Harvey killed his mother Natasha - with the killer originally planning to murder Leanne Battersby instead.
Will says fans may feel sorry for Harvey in upcoming scenes, as the killer explains to Sam about his own childhood - but warned it won't last, as Harvey could be back to his usual tricks despite making a grand gesture to help the family.
In upcoming scenes, Harvey will offer Nick a lifeline with the bistro as he struggles with raising funds to buy the second half of it.
"Harvey drops a piece of paper, knowing somehow that Nick’s having trouble with buying the bistro, and it’s basically bank details so he can borrow the money," Ben Price - who plays Nick - explained to Metro recently.
"I think Nick naively imagines that one, Harvey will never get out of prison and two, he genuinely feels bad about what happened to Sam and is giving him the money. Nick half believes that and the other half just goes look I need this, I need something for Sam, I’ll work it out later. I think he feels like his child needs to be left with some legacy because he wasn't."
Now, despite his seeming U-turn, Will insists Harvey won't become this "beautiful, nice person".
Speaking to new! magazine about if Harvey is capable of redemption, he said: "I think Harvey might be lost but at the same time, it's not over. Maybe there's something he can do for Sam to make sure he doesn't suffer like he did.
"He's in prison for the rest of his life but it's what he does with the time he's got left. But that doesn't mean he's not going to seize an opportunity if it comes his way because that's how he is. So don't expect him to suddenly become a beautiful, nice person."
Nick is also fearful what might happen if Leanne finds about his decision to borrow the money from the killer.
"Nick is Nick he will try and get away with it until it’s too painful and he’ll have to tell her. But he thinks he can easily get away with this, he also thinks he can easily pay it back. Harvey’s not going to be able to force the situation from prison," Ben added.
