Coronation Street teen Summer Spellman has seen her life turn upside down in the last few weeks on the ITV soap after she discovered she was pregnant.
Summer (Harriet Bibby) was left with a huge decision in her hands after Billy Mayhew’s parishioners Esther and Mike offered her £10,000 in exchange for her keeping the baby to give to them.
Summer had initially decided to have an abortion but later changed her mind and agreed to give her baby away so she could use the money to go towards sending her boyfriend Aaron’s dad to rehab to battle his alcoholism.
However, as Mike and Esther said during scenes on the cobbles last week that they wanted Summer to put Mike’s name down as the father on the birth certificate, fans became suspicious that the pair are up to something much darker.
One fan posted on social media: "I think they will try for custody as he will be down as the dad and make her look like an unfit mum, and lie."
Another agreed: "Once he gets named on the birth certificate. The baby gets born. They apply to the courts to get full custody. She's young with health problems. They'll will claim she's incompetent. That telling look from her."
A third chimed in: "Baby trafficking maybe?" as many others agreed.
A fourth wrote: "Yep them two are definitely suspect...That baby could possibly be resold for a bigger profit."
Could Summer be about to have any rights to her child taken away as the pair’s sinister plot is exposed?
This comes after photos taken from the set of Coronation Street showed Harriet Bibby, Vanessa Hehir and Tom Lorcan, who play Summer, Esther and Mike, shooting for the serial drama.
The three were spotted at a door in Weatherfield as Summer visited Mike and Esther’s home, but the scene appeared to end abruptly with Summer left with a brooding expression as she left the home.
Summer was also pictured with a brown envelope in hand as she visited the couple – so could it be money in the envelope? Or could it now be the contentious birth certificate with troubles down the road for the teen?
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV.
