Coronation Street's Sue Cleaver is doing I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! for herself and no one else - after wanting some adventure before she turns 60.
The actor is known to millions of ITV viewers as Eileen Grimshaw and she said: "I was 59 in September and I just thought I'm gonna do something really out of my comfort zone.
"I just really wanted to push myself and yeah, do something completely random. So here I am.
"I don't feel it is my place to be a spokesperson for anybody really, but for myself. That's what I want to do, I want to get outside of my comfort zone.
"My son's grown up, I've got to the stage where my responsibilities are easing now and it's something for me and it's a time in my life when I really want to embrace this, the next period of my life.
"I feel in a good place. I feel in a really good place in myself and I think I've learned a lot about myself over the last decade or you know, last five years especially and I'm a work in progress and I am just looking forward to moving forward and how everything unfolds."
The actress, who confirmed her casting in the show when she touched down in Brisbane last week, suggested her character Eileen Grimshaw would not relish the trip.
She said: "I can't imagine Eileen out here to be honest, I don't think she would enjoy it much. People can find out who I am and make up their own minds."
The veteran star of the cobbles insists this is just a break and she will be back in the Rovers for a pint soon.
Asked if she will stay on Corrie as long as Bill Roache who is now 90, she said: "Wouldn't that be incredible? Yeah. I think it's my 23rd year which is just crazy because it doesn't feel like that.
"You've heard this so many times but the place is very seductive, it's a real family atmosphere. It's a real team effort.
"We're in a business where a lot of the time there can be huge amounts of egos but I feel at Corrie definitely we are very much a huge team and you know, everybody needs each other across the whole of the production and it's a wonderful thing to be involved in."
I'm a Celebrity 2022 starts on Sunday, November 6 at 9pm on ITV
